57-Gotta Love Craigslist

Craigslist hubby strikes again!
This afternoon I baked brownies in a 30 year old oven,
For the last time!
G found this on Craigslist for a STEAL!
Yes, it's used....big deal!
The bachelor who owned it hardly cooked at all.
His girlfriend moved in and brought her stainless steel
appliances with her.
G installed it this evening.

So here we have a HUGS poster.
Purchased by yours truly with my own hard earned cash.
From my first paying job. Hoeing.....picking garlic!
I *LoVeD* this poster. I'm sentimental. Kept it for years.......until 2011 to be precise.
I've managed to keep it from getting wrinkled and bent.
I used to have this poster memorized and can still recite much of it.
The last few years it's been hanging on the back of my son's bedroom door.
Not because he asked for it to go there.
But because I asked him if it could go there and he told me he didn't mind.
The last couple years he has become more and more interested in sports.
Basketball and football most. Especially the NFL.
He mentioned that he would like a place to put all of his favorite sports pics and articles.
I'm not one to have clippings all over the wall......in any room of my house.
I thought maybe it was time for my little boy to make his room his own, including the back of his door. (Ya THINK?)
Wondered if he would be thought "too soft hearted" by his buddies that visit his room
when they come over to hang out.
(Odds are... hugging little bunnies and such are not "where it's at" with 10yr. old boys no matter how tender hearted the one is who lives under our roof and who technically will always be this Mommy's 'baby'.)
With his older sister not interested in her Mom's 30 year old HUGS poster,
what was a sentimental gal like me to do???
I deliberated. I thought a bit....I decided it was time to say good bye....no, life will never be the same. Life isn't always easy but however it is full of opportunity.
Great opportunity to engage my coping skills.
I took a photo as a memento and parted with my prized possession.
It's been several weeks and I'm doing fine, thank you.
Everything is going to be okay. :)
(But, I think I need a hug....hee hee.)

53-Recycling & Drew Brees

Over the long weekend, Z worked on a school project.
He was to come up with a creative use for something that
would otherwise be discarded.
He chose to make a Drew Brees shadowbox out
of a cardboard box.
He came home from school reporting that all the kids
LOVED his box and he was asked if he would mind making
a few special orders.

52-Road Trip

This afternoon we enjoyed a little road trip up to Oregon City.
We met Grandma and Grandpa G at Buster's.
We LoVe Buster's Barbecue (and making memories
with grandparents is good too!)

A & Z had the day off from school.
We did a couple of errands.
(Including a much needed haircut for Z.)
And had a fun time at Red Robin for lunch.

Beautiful days like today, I sometimes feel are just for me.
A personal gift from the One who created me and this beautiful world.
It does my soul well.
Therapy like none other.
I can really struggle on the gray days.
I found myself singing today....a lot....it was a productive day. *\0/*
Big blue sky rejuvenation is THE BEST!!!

45-Picture Perfect

Many pictures were taken at our house today!
Lots of pretties.....cards, roses, kids, a set table,
I even used my Grandmother's beautiful platter.
But this picture is my favorite.
My favorites are often pictures that weren't set up.

After dinner and before dessert, Alexa gave Greg and I
a beautiful, heartfelt letter.......this one is a real treasure!
I was sitting at the other end of the table while Greg was reading......
I loved what I saw. :)
I think this shall be an all time favorite.

a fun night together with our children.

There's something about selecting Valentines for your classmates.
Choosing the design and message that best fits each one.
Making sure no one gets left out.
Z and I had a mini assembly line going at our table tonight.
I ENJOYED helping and talking with him.
It dawned on me part way through that.....
this may well be the last year for "classroom Valentines"
at our house.............(BIG sigh).
